QuickRoots® is a microbial seed inoculant containing Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and Trichoderma virens, which help increase the availability and uptake of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K).
- This trial was designed to evaluate the impact of QuickRoots® in combination with different tiers of Acceleron® Seed Applied Solutions seed treatments on corn yield.
Research Site Details
A 110-relative maturity SmartStax® RIB Complete® corn product was selected.
The trial was carried out with 5 treatments in 30-inch row spacing, 4 rows per treatment, 150-foot plot length, and 3 replications.
Management practices typical of the region were utilized in respect to fertility and weed control.
In this trial, the Standard treatment consisted of Acceleron® Seed Applied Solutions BASIC plus Poncho®/VOTiVO®, which included fungicide, insecticide, and nematode protection (Table 1).
The EDC treatment consisted of Acceleron® Seed Applied Solutions ELITE plus Poncho®/VOTiVO®, which includes fungicide, insecticide, and nematicide treatments with the Enhanced Disease Control (EDC) offering (Table 1).
QuickRoots® Dry Planter Box Corn is a microbial seed inoculant that was added as a dry planter box formulation for enhanced nutrient availability (Table 1).
Understanding The Results
Differences between the treatments were statistically significant (p=0.0029).
Average corn yield trended upward with increasing treatment level (Figure 1).
The Standard treatment consisting of Acceleron® Seed Applied Solutions BASIC increased yield by an average of 3.4 bu/acre compared to the untreated control.
The addition of QuickRoots® to the Standard treatment resulted in an additional 2.5 bu/acre over the Standard treatment alone.
The EDC treatment consisting of Acceleron® Seed Applied Solutions ELITE increased yield by an average of 5.2 bu/acre over the untreated control.
The addition of QuickRoots® to the EDC treatment resulted in an additional 0.8 bu/acre over the EDC treatment alone.
This location experienced early-season drought from the V4 to R2 growth stages. It appears that QuickRoots® was able to provide a benefit to the corn plants even under low moisture conditions.

In this trial, the addition of QuickRoots® to seed treatments in corn resulted in an average yield increase of 1.75 bu/acre compared to seed treatments alone.
